Study of Ouw Natural Clay Ouw –TiO2 Manufacturing Methods for Applications in the Degradation Reaction of Linear Alkylbenzene Sulfonates

Research has been carried out to study the method of making TiO2 Ouw natural clay composites and photocatalytic applications in the degradation reaction of Linear Alkylbenzene Sulfonate surfactants. The method used is the method of imregnation and pillarization. Calcination temperature studies were also carried out. The temperature variations used were 200, 250 and 300C. Characterization was carried out using X-ray diffraction. The characterization results showed that the pillarization method at a temperature of 250C had the highest peak of montmorillonite-TiO2 phase while in the impregnation method givest the highest phase peak at the application of a calcination temperature at 200C. The LAO-TiO2 composite with the pillarization method at 250C succeeded in degrading the Linear Alkylbenzene Sulfonate surfactant by 89.2% with an adsorption capacity of 0.357 mg/g, while the LAO-TiO2 composite with the calcination temperature impregnation method of 200C degraded the Linear Alkylbenzene Sulfonate surfactant by 80.75% with an adsorption capacity of 0.323 mg/g.
